Today is Remembrance Day. 2014 marks 100 years since the beginning of what was to be known as the Great War. Canada, with their sentimental attachment to the Commonwealth still hanging around and their own patriotism, felt that they had a duty to serve. Of course, as Skule students, we can be aware that engineering students especially had a role to play in both wars (but remember, it’s not just about us). Visit to Soldiers’ Tower!

Secured a new place to visit! Have you ever been to Hart House? Well you may have passed by a tower, and maybe even heard the bells there ring! Located adjacent to Hart House, the Soldiers’ Tower is a memorial to the 1185 members of the University (including the 140 from Engineering) who gave their lives in the cause of peace and freedom during the two World Wars. Friday Oct. 3rd, 2014 @ 12:10PM. Approximately 45 minutes in length. Meeting Location: Entrance to Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library (2nd floor of Robarts Library) Only 15 students will be allowed on this tour! (If there is enough demand, another tour will be scheduled.) Once you submit the form, you’ll be sent a message within 24 hours whether there is a spot confirmed for you.
